Languedoc-Roussillon

It has been estimated that about 40% by volume of all wine produced in France originates in Languedoc-Roussillon. Consequently, William-Harrison has been particularly judicious and unusually selective in choosing the best wines from the best producers in their respective local areas and appellations. The remarkable and distinctive landscape of the Languedoc is a vast sea of vines reflecting different shades of green. The vines push back the borders of the scrub-covered landscape and compete for space even with holiday beaches and the towns and villages.Despite being the largest producer, they suffered through the fifties with a poor reputation. With the advent of modern technology and the loss of the Algerian vineyards that provided much of the table wine, these growers and producers knew they had to improve greatly to stay competitive with the new EEC market. And they have risen to the challange. Enjoy researching our wines from this well know region.
